Kindness of strangers

Written on May 23, 2018

While on the subway ride home, I saw a young man hold the door open at a stop. I looked over and saw an elderly woman with her bike making her way over to the subway. As she strolled up, another young guy who had just gotten off the subway and the guy who was holding the door, hoisted the elderly woman’s bike onto the subway. There wasn’t any platform for her to easily get her bike and herself on the subway.

Both of these guys had to be in their early-20s. Both were of different ethnicity from each other and from the woman.

Watching these two young men help the elderly woman out, reminded me that strangers can be kind and that there are still gentlemen in this world.
